Work
The term “ensemble”, coined by Oppermann in the early 1970s for her process-based arrangements, encompasses both the installed work and the method underlying it: “Ensemble is what I call the documentation of a particular method of proceeding in exercises of perception and (or) cognition. Building an ensemble is the presentation of many efforts to recognize a piece of reality, to assess it, or indeed to get ‘a grip on a problem’ (concept).” (Anna Oppermann, 1978)
